This 1986 GMC C1500 pickup was heavily customized by a previous owner, with a claimed 3,000 man-hours invested in the build. It rides on air suspension with a chassis modified by Phat Phabz, who also customized the firewall and bed. Power comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 linked to a built 4L80E and a 12-bolt rear end with a 3.42 limited-slip differential. Supporting modifications include a 3″ custom exhaust system, Wilwood disc brakes, Ridetech adjustable dampers, rack-and-pinion steering, a four-link rear end with a Panhard bar, and uprated fuel components. The two-tone paintwork is complemented by a custom oak bed, and the truck also has 22″ and 24″ wheels, leather upholstery, air conditioning, Dakota Digital instruments, and more as described below. This custom C1500 is now offered in Georgia with a Pennsylvania title.
The Carfax report denotes the truck was involved in a “serious” accident in 1997. It has since been repainted black with white lower sections and a white roof. The wipers do not work.
The custom oak flooring in the bed is set in a powered frame hinged at the front, and it opens to reveal the suspension and fuel system. The Phat Phabz aluminum fuel cell has twin Aeromotive fuel pumps. The fender wells are fiberglass, and the chassis has been powder-coated.
The Phat Phabz custom Mustang II-style front end features reinforced control arms, rack-and-pinion steering, and Ridetech dampers paired with adjustable Air Lift springs, and the rear end is a four-link setup. The AccuAir management system features three ride positions.
The US Mags wheels measure 22″ and 24″ front and rear, and they have Yokohama 265/34 and 315/35 rubber mounted respectively. The Wilwood brake system uses six-piston calipers and 14″ rotors.
The custom-made seat features leather upholstery and integrated cupholders. The truck has power windows and locks along with air conditioning and a retro-style radio. The carpeting, dashboard pad, door panels, and headliner were all replaced as part of the work.
A billet wheel is mounted on the tilt column, and Dakota Digital gauges were installed. Total chassis mileage is unknown.
The supercharged 6.2-liter LSA V8 was retrofitted as part of the build, and it runs Holley Terminator EFI. A Billet Specialties serpentine system was used along with Hooker manifolds and an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. Phat Phabz customized the firewall and tunnel as part of the build, and custom fender liners were also fitted.
The seller tells us the 4L80E has billet internal components, and the narrowed 12-bolt rear end uses a 3.42 limited-slip differential and 31-spline axles. The 3″ exhaust system was tig-welded and features Flowmaster mufflers, and it dumps ahead of the rear axle
The Carfax report shows the aforementioned 1997 accident and has a 100k-mile odometer reading recorded the same year.
