This 1975 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 is said to have been sold new in Costa Rica, where it was refurbished between 2022 and 2024 before being brought to the US in early 2025. The truck is finished in blue with a white roof over black upholstery, and power comes from a retrofitted 4.0-liter 3F inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Features include power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and 15” wheels as well as a split front bench seat, rear jump seats, and ambulance-style rear doors. This FJ40 is now offered with repair manuals and a clean North Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The seller tells us that the body was removed from the frame and repainted in Toyota Sky Blue during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include vent windows, dual side mirrors, early-style windshield wipers, and ambulance-style rear doors.
The 15” wheels are mounted with Unigrip Road Force M/T tires, and a spare is secured to a swing-out carrier at the rear. The seller reports that a power steering system was installed during the refurbishment along with disc brakes front and rear.
The cabin has been overhauled with replacement black vinyl upholstery over the split front bench seat and inward-facing jump seats. Interior equipment includes seatbelts, rubber floor liners, and manual windows. The fuel tank is located under the front bench.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 160-km/h speedometer and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 500 kilometers (~311 miles), approximately 200 kilometers of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 4.0-liter 3F inline-six was installed in 2024, according to the seller, who reports that the valves were overhauled and the carburetor and radiator were replaced at that time. A leak is noted from the rear main seal.
Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A replacement clutch is said to have been installed during the refurbishment.
