Former Ebonyi PDP Governorship Candidate Chukwuma Odii Resigns from Party

Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the 2023 Ebonyi State governorship election, has formally resigned his membership from the party.

In a resignation letter dated January 1, 2026, and addressed to the PDP chairman of Amanator Ward in Isuachara, Onicha Local Government Area, Odii announced his immediate departure following extensive consultations with his family and close associates.

The letter expressed gratitude to the party’s leadership and members for the platform that enabled him to contest the 2023 governorship race.

“I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the opportunity and platform provided for me, which I utilized in contesting as a governorship candidate during the 2023 general election,” Odii wrote.

He added: “I remain grateful for the support, cooperation, and goodwill extended to me throughout my engagement with the party.”

Odii did not disclose any specific reasons for his resignation beyond the consultations, nor has he indicated plans to join another political party.

The development comes amid ongoing internal challenges within the PDP in several states, marking another high-profile exit as the party prepares for future elections.
