ADC: Maduro’s Arrest Sends Strong Warning to Tinubu’s ‘Illegitimate’ Government

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has described the United States’ arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife as a “clear warning” to the Nigerian government and other regimes perceived to lack legitimacy.

In a statement issued on Monday, the opposition party highlighted the development in Venezuela as sending a strong message to governments worldwide, including Nigeria’s administration under President Bola Tinubu.

The ADC pointed out that more than 48 hours after the arrest, the APC-led federal government has not issued any official reaction.

“This silence by the APC-led Bola Tinubu administration is a further indication that Nigeria, under President Tinubu, has lost both its voice and standing on the international stage,” the party stated.

The opposition group’s comments come amid ongoing domestic debates over governance and legitimacy in Nigeria, with the ADC using the Venezuelan situation to underscore its criticism of the current administration’s international influence.
