MANILA, Philippines — The convergence of hot and cold air called shear line continues to dump rain over Bicol region, Northern Samar, and the provinces of Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon, the state-run weather agency said on Wednesday.
Weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned in a 5 a.m. briefing that flashfloods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains would be possible in these areas.
Meanwhile, the trough or extension of the low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has been affecting Palawan with cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms.
“It would remain unlikely for the LPA to enter PAR and develop into a tropical depression,” the Pagasa forecaster said.
She said that the rest of Eastern Visayas would experience the same weather pattern caused by the easterlies—winds that carry humid and warm weather.
Another weather system, the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan,’ has been bringing overcast skies with light rains over Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora, according to Pagasa. Amihan is affecting Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected, it added.
Pagasa’s latest advisory indicated that the rest of the country would be experiencing isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, also due to the easterlies.
