No criminal incidents, accidents reported at Traslacion, says PNP

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not recorded any criminal or violentn incidents, as well, as accidents during the Feast of the Black Nazarene in Manila on Friday, Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr., acting PNP chief, said in a press briefing at Camp Crame.

Nartatez said, however, that health emergencies were performed on some of the devotees by standby response teams.

The PNP also coordinated with the nearest hospitals should cases require more intensive medical attention, Nartatez said.

Earlier in the day, Nartatez said over 18,000 law enforcement forces were deployed to secure the Traslacion or procession of the image of the Black Nazarene across 12 segments in Manila, each led by a subcommander, the district director, and the regional director of the National Capital Region Police Office, Maj. Anthony Aberin said.

Nartatez added that most police personnel were equipped with body-worn cameras.

Maj. Philip Ines, Manila Police District spokesman said authorities would enforce maximum tolerance but warned that violators would be held accountable..
