The image of the Black Nazarene fails to return to its home in Quiapo Church in Manila for the first time on Jan. 10, 2025, more than 24 hours after it left the Quirino Grandstand on its feast day, making the Traslacion or its procession the longest in history. As part of tradition, the Nazarene made a stopover at nearby San Sebastian Church to pay a ‘religious courtesy’ to its patron, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel, when Church authorities decided to suspend the procession, citing problems with the andas or carriage that carried the image. The Traslacion, has since resumed, as of posting time.
