This 1997 Mercury Mountaineer has remained registered in California since new and was acquired by the current owner on BaT in June 2024. Work since then involved changing the fluids and replacing the rear main seal, pinion seal, fuel pump, power steering pump, rack-and-pinion, and tie rods. Now showing 47k miles, the truck is finished in Oxford White with Medium Graphite lower body panels and is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. It rides on 15″ cast-aluminum wheels and is further equipped with Bilstein shocks, roof rails, and running boards. Inside, the power-adjustable front seats are trimmed in Medium Graphite leather and are joined by neoprene covers, air conditioning, cruise control, and a six-CD changer. This Mountaineer is now offered at no reserve by the seller with receipts for work performed under current ownership, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.

The truck is finished in Oxford White with Medium Graphite lower bodywork. Details include fog lights, running boards, roof rails, and a split rear tailgate with heated glass and a wiper. There is a chip in the windshield, and rust is noted on the roof.

Cast-aluminum 15″ wheels are wrapped in 235/75 Michelin XLT A/S tires, and the right front wheel does not match. Bilstein shocks have been installed at each corner along with cross-drilled and slotted brake rotors. Work under current ownership included replacing the power steering pump, rack-and-pinion, and tie rods.

The six-way power-adjustable front bucket seats are upholstered in Medium Graphite leather and wear black neoprene covers. Appointments include a carpeted dash mat, air conditioning, cruise control, rear seat audio controls, and a six-CD changer. The seller notes that the stereo power button does not work correctly and that the overhead console lights do not illuminate.

The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and an inaccurate fuel level readout. The six-digit mechanical odometer shows 47k miles, approximately 500 of which have been added under current ownership.

The 5.0-liter V8 features sequential electronic multi-port fuel injection for a factory-rated output of 210 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The fuel pump was replaced in June 2024, and the rear main seal was changed in August 2025. The truck most recently passed a California emissions test in April 2024.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. The pinion seal was replaced in June 2024, at which time the differential fluid was changed.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage.
