This 1954 MG TF is a left-hand-drive example that was ordered in North American specification and is said to have been delivered new to a US service member through Christian Odendahl in Frankfurt, Germany. The car was acquired by the seller’s father in the mid-1960s, and it would spend approximately four decades off the road before a refurbishment was completed circa 2014. The grey bodywork is complemented by a biscuit soft top and red leather upholstery, and the car is powered by a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Other details include 15″ wire wheels, auxiliary lights, biscuit side curtains, and a folding windshield in addition to an Arnolt heater, a banjo-style steering wheel, and Jaeger instrumentation. Acquired by the seller in 2024, this TF is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, a tool kit, spare parts, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Birch Grey, the car was repainted as part of the 2014 work, which also involved replacing or refurbishing body components, sheet metal, and portions of the wood frame. A replacement biscuit soft top and side curtains are fitted, and other details include auxiliary lights, rear-hinged doors, and a folding windshield. A blue oval Chr. Odendahl badge adorns the right fender.
Knock-off 15″ wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, and a spare is affixed to the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums.
The refreshed cabin houses low-back bucket seats trimmed in red leather upholstery, which is complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Appointments include an Arnolt cabin heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger grab handle, and dual dashboard storage compartments.
A banjo-style steering wheel is fitted, and centrally located Jaeger instrumentation consists of a 105-mph speedometer with an inset clock, a tachometer, and a combination gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, approximately 250 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four is equipped with dual carburetors and was rated at 57 horsepower when new.
Engine number 30748 matches the number stamped on the firewall chassis tag, a photo of which can be viewed in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was dispatched to the US on December 3, 1953, and shows factory colors, equipment, and identification numbers.
