The Esso name was first used in marketing campaigns in the early 1900s and represents the phonetic pronunciation of the initials in Standard Oil, the company’s predecessor. The oval sign features a translucent white panel with a blue outline and red embossed Esso lettering. The aluminum frame was replaced by the seller and is finished in red, black, and white. The sign measures approximately 20″ wide by 15.5″ tall and 3.5″ deep, and it weighs about four pounds.
The sign was retrofitted with internal LEDs using 120-volt circuitry by the seller, and the power pack, cord, on/off switch, and two-prong US-style wall plug were also replaced at that time.
The sign has a cleat-style mounting bracket for hanging on the back.
