As part of the effort to institutionalise and strengthen the traditional institution in Bauchi State, 15 district heads under the three newly established emirate councils in Toro Local Government Area have been formally turbaned by their respective emirs.
The coronations were held separately in the Jama’a, Lame, and Toro emirate councils following government approval for the new district heads to take charge of their respective domains.
Speaking at the ceremonies on Monday, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Isah Babayo, tasked the district heads with administering their territories in line with Governor Bala Mohammed’s people-focused governance agenda.
He urged traditional rulers to collaborate with their emirs to deepen grassroots governance, foster unity, and enhance peace across the newly formed emirates.
According to him, traditional institutions remain “vital partners” in bringing government closer to the people and accelerating local development programmes.
He further charged the district heads to embody integrity, justice, and service while working with both government and traditional authorities to promote peace and development at the grassroots.
At their palaces, emirs from the three councils commended Governor Bala Mohammed for strengthening the traditional institution across the state, pledging loyalty in advancing government policies for the benefit of Toro Local Government Area and Bauchi State at large.
