TO provide urgent relief to communities in Cebu, National Life Group, together with Cognizant, has allocated P1 million to Save the Children.
The aid targets families and children grappling with the aftermath of recent earthquakes and successive typhoons that damaged homes, displaced communities and disrupted lives across the province.
The support stems from National Life Group’s connection to Cebu through its work with Cognizant, where many of Cognizant’s local teammates and their families experienced the disasters firsthand.
“When our valued partners and their neighbors in Cebu face [a] crisis, our response is swift and meaningful,” said Achim Schwetlick, EVP and head of Operations at National Life Group. “This is about turning our commitment into tangible help.”
The organization chose to donate to Save the Children due to its deep-rooted presence and swift action in disaster-hit areas.
“Children are especially vulnerable when disasters strike not only to injury but to lasting trauma and disrupted schooling,” Schwetlick noted. “We trust Save the Children’s local teams to deliver support where it matters most.”
Nimesh Mehta, EVP and Chief Information and Strategy Officer, emphasized the goal of helping communities regain stability, stating: “Beyond immediate relief, this is about helping children return to safety, normalcy and learning. We hope our contribution can reduce the mental stress this situation has created for children whether it’s a meal, a safe space or school supplies.”
He also highlighted the company’s local ties.
“We’re not distant observers. The Cognizant teams in Cebu are part of these communities. This assistance reflects our values of doing good — when people we work with and serve are hurting, we act,” Mehta added.
The contribution will provide hygiene kits, emergency shelter materials, learning supplies, and psychosocial support to affected children and families.
