Texaco Service Station Replica w/ Pumps & Memorabilia

This full-scale re-creation of a 1930s California Route 66-style Texaco service station was constructed for the Gene Ponder Collection in 2016, after which it was populated with items from the collection including refurbished fuel and oil pumps. Construction incorporates red-iron steel beams with white, blue, and red tin exterior paneling, storefront-style windows, front and side doors under overhangs, and a 120-volt electrical system. Equipment includes refurbished Texaco Sky Chief- and Diesel Chief-branded fuel pumps, oil pumps, tire-mounting machines, lamps, and an illuminated Texaco roadside pole sign. A collection of memorabilia that accompanies the building includes model cars, advertising signs, a Texaco station attendant uniform, battery and oil-can display shelves, drink vending coolers, and a mechanical cash register. The building will require disassembly prior to transport and is now offered along with its contents in Marshall, Texas, on a bill of sale.

The main building is said to measure 196×196” and features a canted flat roof that extends into a 196×170” front overhang, while a second overhang of the same dimensions is positioned to the right of the building. The structure is underpinned by red-iron steel beams and can reportedly be disassembled for transport. The exterior incorporates tin panels finished in white with blue and red accents below storefront-style windows on the forward three walls and glass-pane doors under each of the overhangs. A Texaco sign is positioned atop the front overhang, and a Texaco pole sign with swan-neck illumination lamps accompanies the building.

The building’s interior features cream- and red-painted plywood walls ahead of batten insulation. A breaker box is located behind the counter and feeds 120-volt electrical outlets and lighting fixtures inside and outside the building.

Four Texaco-branded refurbished fuel pumps are positioned under the overhangs and include a green and red Diesel Chief pump, a silver Sky Chief Su-preme pump, a silver clockface Sky Chief pump, and a green and red Sky Chief pump. Each pump features an illuminated globe, a hose, a nozzle, and dual registers. Additional equipment positioned under the overhangs includes lamps, an air meter, Texaco-branded oil pumps, tire-mounting and balancing machines, a Coca-Cola vending cooler, and branded gumball machines.

Contents of the station include an L-shaped display counter hosting a mechanical cash register, a mannequin wearing a Texaco station attendant uniform, advertising signs and other wall décor, and a Sky Chief-branded refuse bin. Branded display racks and shelves host replica batteries, a selection of replica and period oil cans, Texaco-branded oil bottles, a Pepsi-Cola vending cooler, and maps.

A collection of model cars and trucks in a variety of scales is also included in the sale.
