MANILA, Philippines – The whole of Luzon would be experiencing cool and dry winds of the northeast monsoon, locally known as ‘amihan’, except for isolated rains during late afternoon or evening, the state weather agency said on Friday.
Weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz-Galicia of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the agency has not monitored any low-pressure area entering the country’s area of responsibility within the next two to three days.
“Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would likely have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated light rains,” the Pagasa forecaster said in a 5 a.m. briefing.
Also affected by the northeast monsoon are Batanes and Babuyan Islands, where cloudy skies with rain will prevail within 24 hours, she added.
Meanwhile, Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan would be affected by the easterlies—winds that pass the Pacific Ocean and carry humid, warm weather—bringing partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
