17k-Mile 1984 Nissan 300ZX Turbo 50th Anniversary 5-Speed at No Reserve

This 1984 Nissan 300ZX Turbo is a 50th Anniversary example that was initially delivered to LeBert Bros. Datsun Sales of Arlington, Massachusetts, and was acquired by the seller in 2021, reportedly from the son of its late second owner. Now showing 17k miles, the car is finished in Light Pewter Metallic and Thunder Black over black leather. Power is provided by a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and equipment includes a rear spoiler, removable roof panels, adjustable dampers, 16″ turbine-style alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a Bodysonic sound system. The seller tells us that work performed within the last three years involved servicing the timing, cooling, and ignition systems as well as refinishing various components, repairing the digital dashboard and factory cassette stereo, and replacing the crankshaft sprocket, Woodruff key, crankshaft and camshaft seals, and more as described below. This Z31 300ZX Turbo is offered with a window sticker, factory literature, maintenance and parts receipts, service photos, 50th Anniversary accessories, a clean Carfax report, and a New Jersey title in the seller’s name that identifies the car as a 1984 Datsun.

The 300ZX Turbo 50th Anniversary Edition was produced to commemorate the five-decade anniversary of Nissan’s founding in December 1933. This example is finished in Light Pewter Metallic and Thunder Black, and exterior features include Nissan, Datsun, and 50th Anniversary badging as well as a hood scoop, a rear window wiper, a rear spoiler, removable T-top roof panels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, and a power antenna. The rear windows and taillights were resealed in March 2022, while work in July 2022 involved applying replacement pinstripe decals and repainting the side trim, battery tray, and firewall.

Turbine-style 16″ alloy wheels were refinished in 2022, at which time they were mounted with 225/50 Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires. The car was factory equipped with adjustable dampers, and stopping power is provided by disc brakes with vented rotors at all four corners. Additional work in 2022 involved repainting the wheel wells, changing the strut bellows and boots, and replacing the brake master cylinder.

The two-place cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather with 50th Anniversary embroidery on the backrests. Appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, and a Bodysonic sound system. A replacement headliner was installed in 2022. The factory AM/FM/cassette stereo was repaired in October 2023, at which time replacement woodgrain trim was fitted to the center stack. The hatch struts were changed in April 2025.

The leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel frames digital instrumentation consisting of a speedometer, a tachometer, and readouts for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The digital dashboard power supply was serviced in September 2022, while the digital dashboard was repaired to address a leaking capacitor and corroded transistors in April 2023. The six-digit odometer shows 17k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership.

The turbocharged 3.0-liter VG30ET V6 was factory rated at 200 horsepower and 227 lb-ft of torque. According to the seller, work over the last three years included as well as powder-coating the turbocharger inlet pipe, vapor-blasting and refinishing various parts, and replacing the following components:

  • Timing belt
  • Timing belt tensioner
  • Timing belt tensioner studs and springs

The seller tells us that zinc plating was applied to various engine and body hardware in 2023, while the oil pressure and oil temperature sensors were replaced in 2024. The fuel rails were zinc-plated in March 2025, and maintenance in the following month is said to have involved servicing the fuel injectors, installing a section of replacement fuel hose, and changing the fuel injector O-rings and fuel hose clamps as well as replacing the throttle body, throttle body gasket, upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, and valve cover gaskets.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, which received a fluid change in 2022. The seller states that the fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, clutch master cylinder, and slave cylinder were replaced in 2022. A replacement neutral safety switch was installed in 2023, and the seller tells us that the differential fluid, differential cover gasket, and CV shaft boot clips were changed in 2024 along with the muffler, rear exhaust assembly, fuel pump, fuel tank O-rings, and fuel tank rubber insulators. The fuel tank was cleaned and painted in 2024, and paint was also applied to the undercarriage aft of the fuel tank.

The included window sticker displays initial delivery to LeBert Bros. Datsun Sales of Arlington, Massachusetts, and it lists factory colors and equipment along with a total MSRP of $26,194. Factory literature, maintenance and parts receipts, and service photos are also presented in the gallery below.

50th Anniversary items included in the sale consist of a sales brochure, floor mats, a front-end mask, and a car cover. The factory service manual is also included along with a digital climate control instruction card, the owner’s manual, T-top shades and storage bags, a parcel shelf, and a tonneau cover.
