This 1954 Dodge Power Wagon C-1-PW6 is a one-ton example was converted to brush-fire duty by Van Pelt in the 1950s and is said to have been used at the Hercules dynamite plant (née California Powder Works) in Hercules, California. The seller’s family purchased the vehicle in 1977 and relocated it from California to Arizona. Power is supplied by a 230.2ci inline-six linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes a PTO-driven water pump, a 300-gallon water tank, a silver-painted tailboard and running boards, auxiliary lights, and body-color 16″ steel wheels. This Power Wagon fire truck is now offered with an Arizona title in the seller’s name.
The truck is finished in red with gold-colored “Fire Dept. No. 15” markings. A silver-painted textured-steel tailboard is complemented by matching running boards. A PTO-driven water pump is positioned at the front bumper, and a 300-gallon water tank is stationed in the bed area, flanked by fire-hose racks. The vehicle also is equipped with red emergency roof lights, cowl lights, a driver-side spotlight, and turn signals.
Red-painted 16″ steel wheels are mounted with 9.00-16LT Maxi Trac Super tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner. The seller states that the brakes lose pressure over time.
The black vinyl upholstery is separated on the driver side, and the black rubber flooring is cracked.
The three-spoke steering wheel fronts an 80-mph speedometer as well as supplemental displays for oil pressure, coolant temperature, amperage, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 5k miles, approximately 3k of which are said to have been added under the stewardship of the seller’s family.
The 230.2ci L-head inline-six was factory rated at 99 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque.
