This children’s ride is said to be one of 10 built in the style of a 1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt concept car, featuring a red fiberglass body over a black steel base and powered by a coin-activated electric motor. Additional features include a beige padded seat, a three-spoke steering wheel, faux wheels with whitewall tires, silver-finished bumpers and side trim, a faux windscreen, and a speaker system that plays simulated horn noises as well as the song “In the Mood”. This Thunderbolt-style children’s ride was purchased by the current owner in 2025 and is now offered by the seller on their behalf at no reserve in Neptune, New Jersey, with a bill of sale.
The 1941 Chrysler Thunderbolt “idea-show” car was designed by Alex Tremulis and built by LeBaron Studios to present future Chrysler design philosophies. Big Boys Toys of Oklahoma refurbished this children’s ride in the style of the Thunderbolt, featuring a red-finished fiberglass bodywork with faux concealed headlight outlines, a black windscreen, silver front and rear bumpers, rolled side trim, and aluminum trim outlining the taillight lenses and license plate, together with door and hood emblems. “Le Baron” script adorns the side panels.
The molded wheels have silver hubcaps and faux whitewall tires.
The cockpit features a single beige pleated seat with matching side panels aft of a black three-spoke steering wheel and faux instrumentation. A silver button on the painted dashboard operates a simulated horn sound. The ride is activated by pressing the coin-return knob on the right-rear panel.
The base is finished in black with silver-finished aluminum “Chrysler Thunderbolt” lettering. A speaker system plays “In the Mood” during the ride, while motion is generated by a 1/3-horsepower electric motor fitted with a 120-volt power cord.
