1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Campmobile

1971 Volkswagen Type 2 Westfalia Campmobile is finished in beige and white over tan and beige leatherette and is powered by a 1.6L flat-four paired with a four-speed manual transaxle. Features include 14″ steel wheels, front disc brakes, a pop-up top, dual side mirrors, a CD stereo, a folding bed, a rear table, and a cabin heater. The van was refurbished under prior ownership and was acquired by the seller in 2019. This Type 2 T2 is now offered with a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Originally finished in Pastel White, the bus was repainted beige and white during the aforementioned refurbishment and features a pop-up top with replacement JustKampers.com canvas, Jalousie door windows, dual side mirrors, and painted bumpers. The seller notes that only the high beam headlights are functioning and there is a paint blemish near the left mirror along with various paint chips and bubbles.

The 14″ steel wheels wear hubcaps and were wrapped in Hankook RA08 tires in 2018. A spare is housed under a cover on the nose. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums.

The seating surfaces have been reupholstered in tan and beige leatherette, and additional appointments include a Kenwood CD stereo with Bluetooth, wood interior paneling, cup holders, residential-style power outlets, and window curtains. The left quarter window knob is broken, though a replacement item is included in the sale.

The rear cabin is equipped with a rear-facing jump seat, a bench seat that folds into a bed, and wood cabinets. The kitchenette has been removed.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a 90-mph VDO speedometer and an auxiliary gauge for fuel level. The five-digit odometer has rolled over and shows 32k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership. The fuel level gauge is inoperative.

The 1.6L flat-four was reportedly rebuilt in 2018 and features a 12-volt electrical system. Various fuel lines were replaced in 2025.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transaxle.
