1984 Buick Riviera Convertible at No Reserve

This 1984 Buick Riviera convertible is one of approximately 500 examples produced for the model year, and it was acquired by the seller on BaT in March 2025. The car is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transaxle, and it wears a repaint in white over red leather. Equipment includes a red convertible soft top, quad rectangular headlights, power-operated side mirrors, 15″ steel wheels with wire covers, front disc brakes, power windows and locks, a JVC stereo, cruise control, and air conditioning. This Riviera convertible is now offered at no reserve with a Florida title in the seller’s name.

Riviera coupes were converted to convertibles by the American Sunroof Company when new, and this example was repainted white under previous ownership. Exterior details include a replacement red convertible top, quad rectangular headlights, chrome trim, Riviera badging, an automatic power antenna, and power-operated side mirrors. The Carfax report lists an accident in an April 1999 entry.

The 15″ steel wheels wear wire-style covers and are mounted with Nexen tires. The car is factory equipped with four-wheel independent suspension and electronic leveling control at the rear. Stopping power is provided by power-assisted discs at each corner.

The split front bench and the rear bench are upholstered in red leather. Interior appointments include power windows and locks, a JVC stereo, cruise control, and automatic climate control as well as air conditioning, which was serviced under current ownership. The power driver’s seat does not go back, and a tear is noted on the rear bench seat.

The two-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a tilting and telescoping steering column and fronts an inoperative horizontally sweeping 85-mph speedometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a gear indicator. The five-digit odometer does not work and shows 85k miles. The Carfax report lists a potential odometer rollover in March 1993, a mileage inconsistency in August 2000 and March 2025, and Not Actual Mileage Title Issued entries between 2011 and 2023. Total mileage is unknown.

The 5.0-liter V8 was factory rated at 140 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. A belt squeal upon startup, along with an oil drip are present. The battery was replaced under current ownership, and an oil change was performed in November 2025.

Power is routed to the front wheels through a three-speed automatic transaxle. Corrosion is present on the underside, per the seller.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned accident, “Not Actual Mileage” title issuances, and mileage inconsistencies. The current Florida title lists the mileage as actual.
