This 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 was retrofitted with a GM L96 6.0-liter V8 and a four-speed automatic transmission in 2020, at which time the body was stripped and refinished in metallic green and the interior was redone in tan leather. Features include aftermarket bumpers, power-retractable side steps, and 17” wheels along with air conditioning, a Kenwood stereo, and Focal speakers. Acquired by the current owner in 2020, this FJ60 is offered at no reserve on dealer consignment in California with a Carfax report and a clean Texas title.
The truck is said to have been stripped and repainted in 2020, receiving a replacement roof, weatherstripping, and windshield in the process. The paint color is described as BMW B22 green. Exterior features include aftermarket bumpers, a receiver hitch, and AMP Research power-retractable side steps.
The 17” wheels are mounted with 265/70 Toyo Open Country tires. The front axle is equipped with manually locking hubs, and braking is handled by front discs and rear drums. New shocks were reportedly installed.
The front bucket seats and second-row bench are trimmed in tan leather that extends to the replacement door panels. The carpeting was replaced and Dynamat sound deadener was applied to the firewall and floors. Cabin features include a lockable center console, a Vintage air conditioning system, a Kenwood stereo, and Focal speakers. The dash is cracked.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer, a 4,500-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature, voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 193k miles, an estimated 10k of which were added under current ownership. A mileage inconsistency is noted on the Carfax report in 2020. Total mileage is unknown.
The Chevrolet Performance L96 6.0-liter V8 was installed by Fat Daddy’s Garage of Texarkana, Texas, in 2020 and has a replacement wiring harness, a Vortec-style intake manifold, a cast-iron block, and aluminum cylinder heads. The alternator, starter, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, fuel pump, and radiator were reportedly replaced at that time.
A 4L65E four-speed automatic transmission was installed at the time of the engine swap, according to the seller, and is linked with a two-speed transfer case. A replacement exhaust system was fitted along with new front and rear driveshafts.
The Carfax report notes the aforementioned mileage inconsistency and at least one open recall.
The truck was designated a California Gross Polluter in 2001. It has not been inspected by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or Air Resources Board since the engine swap, nor has it passed a California smog test.
The Texas title is listed as a certified copy.
