Steeda-Modified, 32k-Mile 1998 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra Coupe

This 1998 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra coupe was sold new from Phil Long Ford of Denver, Colorado, in August 1998 and was modified by Steeda Autosports of Pompano Beach, Florida, the following month. It was registered to one owner in Colorado until it was acquired by the selling dealer in October 2025, and it now has 32k miles. The 4.6-liter V8 has been modified with a Vortec supercharger and revised ECU tuning, and the five-speed manual transmission is linked to an Auburn differential. High-performance suspension and braking components were installed by Steeda, and additional equipment includes Ford Motorsports 17″ Cobra R wheels, a revised hood and rear wing, Safecraft racing harnesses, air conditioning, and a Mach 460 sound system. This Mustang SVT Cobra coupe is now offered by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with a window sticker, an SVT Certificate of Authenticity, the owner’s manuals, records, a car cover, and a clean Colorado title.

The SVT Cobra featured Cobra-logo fender badges and a revised front bumper cover when compared to the contemporary Mustang GT. This example is finished in Chrome Yellow Clearcoat and is equipped with a Cobra R hood along with a Steeda rear wing and black stripe package. Close-up photos of the paint and finish are provided in the gallery.

Ford Motorsports 17×9″ Cobra R wheels are mounted with Nitto tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs with Power Slot rotors, Hawk pads, and Russell braided stainless lines. Suspension modifications include Tokico five-way adjustable dampers, subframe braces, urethane suspension and steering bushings, and the following components provided by Steeda:

  • Lowering springs
  • G-Trac brace
  • Aluminum upper and lower control arms
  • Uprated front sway bar
  • Adjustable rear sway bar
  • Caster/camber plates

The Sparco front bucket seats are trimmed in gray cloth with white stitching and embroidery, and Safecraft racing harnesses and a fire extinguisher are affixed to the harness bar behind the front seats. Equipment includes a short-throw shifter, dual front airbags, CD and cassette players, a Mach 460 sound system, and air conditioning.

The Steeda Autosports plaque lists a serial number of 98-007.

The Cobra-branded steering wheel frames a white-dial 160-mph speedometer and tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, voltage, oil pressure, and fuel level. AutoMeter gauges for boost and fuel pressure are mounted on the A-pillar, and aluminum Steeda pedals have been installed. The six-digit odometer shows 32k miles.

Steeda Autosports modified the 4.6-liter V8 with a Vortec S-trim supercharger, a 77mm mass air sensor, and a high-flow intake pipe in September 1998. Replacement fuel injectors were fitted in November 2024, after which the car was reportedly dyno-tuned.

The Borg-Warner T45 five-speed manual transmission is linked with a Ford Motorsport aluminum driveshaft, an Auburn limited-slip differential, and 3.73:1 gears. A replacement bladder was installed in the fuel cell in November 2024. The stainless-steel X-pipe exhaust system is equipped with Bassani high-flow catalytic converters and Dynomax mufflers.

Items accompanying the car include a window sticker, an SVT Certificate of Authenticity, a dynamometer report, a handwritten mileage log, product manuals, modification records, and magazines in which the vehicle was featured. Photos of the vehicle on display at Phil Long Ford circa 1998 are presented in the gallery.

The Carfax report is free of accidents or other damage.
