Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted Hon Maruf Musa, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly and ex-Chief Whip, in Ibiade, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
The incident occurred around 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while the former lawmaker was observing Muslim prayers inside a mosque located within his personal compound.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants fired sporadically into the air to scare away residents and create panic during the abduction.Several people in the vicinity sustained injuries from the gunfire, though the exact number and severity of the injuries remain unconfirmed.
As of Wednesday morning, no contact had been made by the kidnappers, and security agencies were yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The abduction has heightened concerns over rising insecurity in parts of Ogun State, particularly in rural and waterside communities.
