Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has directed the payment of a full 13th-month salary bonus to all civil servants in the state for the fifth consecutive year, while declaring the initiative a permanent policy of his administration.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu.
Governor Uzodimma emphasized his commitment to policy consistency, transparency, and quality governance, stating: “For five consecutive years, we have delivered on this commitment, and with an improving economy strengthened by the growth we are driving across our state, this policy has come to stay.”
He described the bonus not as a bid for praise but as rightful recognition of workers’ dedication, adding that it has boosted morale, inspired higher performance, and contributed to the state’s economic progress through increased productivity.
“This policy has come to stay. It is about recognizing that our workers deserve appreciation for their dedication,” the governor said.
Uzodimma further linked sustained worker welfare to broader development, pledging continued transparency and accountability in governance.
The administration highlighted the bonus as evidence of effective fiscal management and a strategy to enhance public service motivation, assuring civil servants of its ongoing permanence tied to the state’s positive economic trajectory.
