1971 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Six Pack

This 1971 Dodge Charger R/T is one of 98 examples that were manufactured for the model year with a 440ci Six Pack V8 linked with a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission, and it was sold new by Holiday Cars of Austin, Minnesota. Finished in Bright Blue with black stripes and a white vinyl roof over blue vinyl upholstery, the car is equipped with a trio of two-barrel carburetors, a Ramcharger air intake, a Sure-Grip differential, styled 15″ wheels, power steering, and power brakes as well as woodgrain interior trim, a center console, and an AM radio. The current owner purchased the vehicle in 2010 and has added approximately 100 of the car’s 28k indicated miles. This Charger R/T is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with decoding paperwork from Galen’s Tag Service, manufacturer’s literature, a build card, a copy of a 1998 Mopar Action magazine that featured the car, and a Washington title in the owner’s name.

The car is finished in Bright Blue Metallic (B5) with black longitudinal stripes and a white vinyl roof. The black-accented hood has a Ramcharger intake, R/T and 440 Six Pack badging, and securing pins. Other features include chrome front and rear bumpers, exposed headlights, dual side mirrors, and “machine gun” dual tailpipes.

Styled 15″ road wheels are mounted with G60–15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires; the seller states that the tires have never been replaced. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted drums.

The cabin features high-back front bucket seats and a rear bench that are upholstered in blue vinyl. Amenities include woodgrain trim, a center console, a Slap Stik T-handle shifter, an AM radio, a heater, and seatbelts.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 150-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles. Approximately 100 miles have been accumulated under current ownership, and the seller tells us that the car has not been driven at highway speeds during that time.

The 440ci Six Pack V8 was factory equipped with three two-barrel carburetors and was rated at 385 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque when new. The seller states that the fuel system was flushed under current ownership, and the battery was replaced in spring 2025.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission and a Sure-Grip limited-slip differential.

The car was featured on the cover of the April 1998 issue of Mopar Action magazine, a copy of which will accompany the vehicle along with manufacturer’s literature and other paperwork that is pictured in the gallery below.

Galen’s Tag Service decoded the Charger’s trim tag in 2010.

The Washington title indicates that use tax was waived as a result of the owner receiving the vehicle as a gift.
