2.2L Flat-Six-Powereed 1976 Porsche 914 Convertible Conversion

This 1976 Porsche 914 was converted to a convertible under prior ownership and additionally modified with widened rear fenders, a 2.2L flat-six, and Perma-Tune electronic ignition with Bluetooth connectivity. The car has been refinished in black with a gray soft top, and the interior houses low-back bucket seats trimmed in black with Pepita cloth inserts. Further appointments include a five-speed manual transaxle, polished 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels, tubular headers, a dual outlet exhaust system, Weber carburetors, an aftermarket steering wheel, and a cassette stereo. This 914 was acquired by the selling dealer in 2025 and is now offered in Florida with a Nevada title.

The Targa roof was deleted and widened rear fenders were installed during the convertible conversion. Originally finished in Summer Yellow, the car was repainted black and fitted with a gray soft top and 914-6 badging.

Polished 15″ Fuchs alloy wheels are mounted with Kuhmo tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel discs. Rear strut tower braces have been added.

The cabin features fixed-back bucket seats upholstered in black and Pepita cloth. Amenities include a heater, wind-up windows, an aftermarket cassette stereo, and lap belts.

The three-spoke aftermarket steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a central tachometer, a 150-mph speedometer, and a fuel level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles, which is not considered to be accurate. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.2-liter flat-six was reportedly rebuilt before being installed and is equipped with dual Weber carburetors and a Perma-Tune electronic ignition system with Bluetooth connectivity. The seller tells us that the engine features an 84mm bore and 66mm stroke as well as an updated timing chain tensioner kit.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle. Aftermarket headers feed a dual outlet muffler.
