Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey, has warned his team not to look down on Mozambique ahead of the Round of 16 match on Monday.
He said that staying focused and being disciplined will be very important for the Super Eagles to continue doing well in the tournament.
In an interview with the Super Eagles media team, the Fulham center-back said that just having a good reputation does not guarantee winning games, using the game between Tunisia and Mali as an example.
He said, “Never underestimate any team, because you can’t underestimate any team. Look at yesterday’s game, Tunisia had eleven players and Mali had ten players, but they beat Mali.
“On paper, we have all the big names, but for us, the focus is on ourselves. We want to make sure we do everything right and stick to the game plan. That’s what’s most important for us.”
Bassey also said everyone in the team is involved in defending, and thanked the whole team for their efforts.
