William Avila, 64, a local artist, has brought his gallery closer to the streets near Colon, the oldest street in the Philippines, offering his paintings for as low as P150. He told The Manila Times that he opened the sidewalk display on Sunday, January 4, 2025, hoping to reach more customers. Avila said a basic painting priced at P150 usually takes him about 20 minutes to complete. As the Sinulog Festival nears, Avila hopes the busy streets will help him sell more creations and support his livelihood.
