This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 left the factory as a two-door fastback and was acquired by the seller’s brother in 2015 following a roadster-style conversion and a repaint in silver. A 390ci V8 was also fitted under prior ownership and is backed by a three-speed automatic transmission. The car was converted to a roadster style at some point under prior ownership, and its silver finish was also applied prior to the current family’s ownership. Dual exhaust outlets exit ahead of the rear wheels through cutouts in the lower bodywork. Areas of rust are noted, and the windshield wiper arms are missing.
The 14″ wheels wear moon-style covers and are mounted with Cooper Cobra tires up front and Futura GLS Super Sport rubber out back. Rear air shocks have been installed. The seller notes that the front wheel bearings were replaced in 2019, the brake booster and master cylinder were replaced since 2019, and the front crossmember appears to have been replaced in 2020. There is a power steering leak.
Two rows of bench seats are trimmed in gray vinyl with patterned fabric inserts. The push-button radio and cigarette lighter do not work, the handles for the parking brake and left rear window are missing, and there are burn holes in the upholstery.
The three-spoke steering wheel has a chrome horn ring and fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. A Sunpro tachometer is mounted to the lower left of the steering column, and a trio of AutoMeter Pro-Comp readouts is centrally mounted below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles. The seller notes that it showed 3,670 miles at the time of their brothers purchase in October 2015. The speedometer cable has been disconnected for an unknown period of time. Total mileage is unknown.
The seller reports that the 390ci V8 was installed under prior ownership, and it is fitted with an Edelbrock carburetor and air cleaner assembly. A battery float charger has been installed, and the pigtail connector is located near the right headlight.
The car was equipped from the factory with a dual-range C4 three-speed automatic transmission. The seller notes a transmission leak.
