This is the fourth year for the BaT Cognoscenti Award, created in honor of our late friend and expert commenter Ed_L, While its companion, the Most Valuable Commenter Award, is presented to the crowd favorite commenter writ large, the Cognoscenti Award is reserved for members of the BaT community whom you deem the most knowledgeable, scholarly, and/or erudite in their chosen vehicular subject.
Last year, this award was given to resident Mopar lore-master ValiantJim, who we learned more about through his Riding Shotgun interview with sludgo a few months later
Here’s how it works:
To nominate, leave a comment below with a link to the profile of the user—and feel free to include examples of their commentary. Use the search function to find a particular user, or click on their username in any comments thread to open their profile page. Honorable mentions are welcome, but please be sure to cast an official vote for only one commenter. Previous winners are not eligible.
Voting remains open until midnight Pacific on Sunday, January 11. From there, the top three nominees will move on to final voting. The winner will receive four new Michelin or BFGoodrich tires of their choosing. Nominations are open now!
