This 1954 MG TF was purchased out of Delaware by the current owner’s parents in April 1992, and it has been in the owner’s care since 2016. Finished in red over red leather, the car is powered by a 1,250cc XPAG inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a beige soft top and side curtains, 15″ wire wheels, wind wings, a driving light, a banjo-style steering wheel, a heater, and dual SU carburetors. This TF is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with Rhode Island registration in the owner’s name.
The car is finished in red and is equipped with a beige soft top and matching side curtains. Features include a bright grille, a Lucas driving light, fender-mounted mirrors, wind wings, a folding windshield, running boards, rear-hinged doors, and chrome bumpers. The seller states that the driver door is sometimes difficult to latch, and the soft top exhibits creases.
Chrome-finished 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with 165SR15 Dunlop SP-4N radial tires, and a spare is affixed to the rear of the vehicle. Braking is handled by four-wheel drums, which were overhauled in 2018, according to the seller.
The cabin features low-back bucket seats trimmed in red leather that are complemented by a color-coordinated dash pad and door panels. Additional equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, dual dashboard storage compartments, a heater, lap belts, door-panel storage pockets, and black carpeting.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Jaeger instrumentation consisting of a 105-mph speedometer with an inset clock, a tachometer, and a combination gauge for coolant temperature, oil pressure, and amperage. An MW gauge for coolant temperature has been added below the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles, approximately 800 of which were added by the current owner.
The 1,250cc XPAG inline-four is equipped with dual SU carburetors for a factory rating of 57 horsepower. The fluids were changed most recently in 2018, the seller tells us.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
The vehicle is being sold on its Rhode Island registration, which serves as the ownership document in Rhode Island. The document lists the car’s body type as “coupe”.
