This 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was acquired by the seller in 2007 and was subsequently refurbished and modified. Work included repainting the body in blue, retrimming the interior in black vinyl, installing a suspension lift kit, and retrofitting a 350ci Chevrolet V8 equipped with a revised camshaft, a Hypertech distributor, Summit Racing cylinder heads, long-tube headers, and an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold. The truck rides on 16″ American Racing wheels and also has Pro Comp shocks, Aisin manually locking front hubs, power-assisted front disc brakes, LED headlights, a Bestop soft top, a Grant steering wheel, a Boss head unit, and a custom audio system. This modified FJ40 is now offered with refurbishment receipts and a South Carolina title in the seller’s name.
The body was removed from the frame, sheet metal repairs were performed, and the truck was repainted blue as part of the aforementioned refurbishment in 2007. Details include a cowl hood, a Bestop soft top, a narrowed front bumper, LED headlights, fog lights, dual side mirrors, later-model full metal doors, black rear wheel arches, and a custom rear bumper with a swing-away tire carrier. The seller notes rust bubbles near the rear bumper and states that the license plate and hazard lights do not work.
Polished 16″ American Racing wheels are wrapped in 285/75 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Work in 2025 is said to have involved rebuilding the steering knuckles and replacing the master cylinder and brake calipers and pads.
The 60/40-split front bench and inward-facing rear jump seats were retrimmed in black vinyl, which extends to the dash pad and door panels. A Bluetooth-capable Boss head unit has been mounted in the glove compartment, and it is linked to roll bar-mounted Kicker speakers, a Blue Wire amplifier, and a subwoofer that has been modified to resemble a nitrous oxide bottle.
The Grant steering wheel sits ahead of a GPS-based 160-mph speedometer and Dolphin auxiliary gauges. The seller notes that the fuel readout is inaccurate. The digital odometer indicates 34 miles, and total mileage is unknown.
