This 1968 Rupp Chaparral CS-2 was sold on BaT in January 2022 and was acquired by the seller in 2023. The tubular steel frame is finished in metallic gold paint, and power comes from twin McCulloch MC91B1 two-stroke singles. Other attributes include a seat trimmed in black pleated vinyl, Rupp turbine wheels, a seven-quart chrome seatback fuel tank, a Nassau panel, a single rear brake drum, Max-Torque centrifugal clutches, Walbro carburetors, and GEM starter pulleys and box mufflers. This Chaparral CS-2 is now offered at no reserve in Gilbert, Arizona, on a bill of sale.
The tubular steel frame was refinished in a BMW-sourced metallic paint under prior ownership, together with a matching Nassau panel. The chassis features a two-piece frame with sections connecting fore and aft of the seat, and rubber bushings at the rear to reduce vibration. A chrome seatback fuel tank is mounted behind the seat, and the aluminum floor pan has been fitted with a black lining. A paint chip on the rear of the frame is shown in the gallery.
The Rupp turbine wheels feature chrome lips and are mounted with Carlisle front and Eliminator rear slicks. Braking is handled by a chrome drum on the rear axle.
The black vinyl seat features front and side bolsters, adjustable backrest mounts, and stainless steel snaps. A three-spoke steering wheel with a chrome hub cover is mounted aft of the foot controls. A tear in one of the side bolsters is shown in the gallery.
The twin McCulloch MC91B two-stroke singles were rebuilt by Chapman Specialties Kart Shop under previous ownership and are fitted with Walbro carburetors, GEM starter pulleys, and box mufflers. Power is sent to the rear axle via MaxTorque clutches and replacement drive chains.
