This 1971 Mercury Cougar XR-7 hardtop coupe was acquired out of Arizona by the current owner’s grandparents in the late 1990s and has since spent time in New Mexico and Texas. Finished in yellow with a white vinyl roof over white upholstery, the car is powered by a 351ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission. It rides on 15″ American Racing wheels and is equipped with power steering, front disc brakes, woodgrain interior trim, air conditioning, and a radio fitted with an auxiliary input. Acquired by the current owner in 2010, this Cougar XR-7 is now offered on dealer consignment with a New Mexico title.

The car was finished from the factory in Competition Yellow (D), and exterior details include color-keyed side mirrors, a white vinyl roof, and chrome bumpers.

American Racing 15″ wheels are mounted with Goodyear Eagle GTII tires. The car is equipped with power steering, and braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

White upholstery covers the front bucket seats, rear bench, and door panels, while woodgrain trim accents the dashboard. A Pioneer digital stereo with an auxiliary input and aftermarket door speakers have been installed, and the audio system is controlled via a module mounted in the factory ashtray compartment. The inoperative factory radio and cassette player remain in the car. The cabin is equipped with air conditioning, and the uninstalled rearview mirror will accompany the car.

The tilting steering wheel is adorned with woodgrain trim and has cracks. Instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 46k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 351ci Cleveland V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 285 horsepower.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission.
