THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday launched Model Negosyo Centers nationwide to streamline assistance and support services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The center is a one-stop, high-capacity business support hub that will provide services such as business name registration, barangay micro business enterprise (BMBE) processing, advisories, specialized training, innovation support, and digital integration using the Tatak Pinoy and Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (Bsmed) digitalization funds.
The Tatak Pinoy Act, or Republic Act 11981, seeks to strengthen local industries, diversify production capabilities, and make Filipino products and services more globally competitive, moving the economy from labor-intensive assembly to advanced production.
The Bsmed plays a key role in implementing the Tatak Pinoy Strategy in areas related to MSME development.
DTI said it wants to put up two Model Negosyo Centers per region this year.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said that the launch of the center matters since MSMEs comprise 99.6 percent of all businesses in the country and 60 percent of jobs.
“The Marcos Jr. administration is here to help you as best and as aggressive as we can. We will make sure that your businesses will thrive and will grow. Let’s take advantage of what the government has to offer. If we have a dream, let’s go for the dream,“ she said.
Last month, DTI launched the Bagong Pilipinas MSME Hub to support MSMEs by offering premium market access, visibility, and B2B matching, featuring curated Filipino food, fashion, home décor, and innovations.
