MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte described the Feast of the Black Nazarene as a “call to reflect on our shortcomings, ask for forgiveness, and be thankful for all the blessings received.”
In her message, Duterte said that the Filipinos’ devotion to the Black Nazarene reminded of Jesus’ unparalleled love, sacrifice, and humility for humanity.
“Every year, the steps taken by devotees, despite hardships and trials, strengthen our faith,” Duterte said.
She also prayed that the Black Nazarene would inspire its devotees to “continue living the teachings of love and trust in God’s plan.”
