This 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI is believed to be one of 300 RS-model Tommi Mäkinen Editions produced, and it was imported from Japan to New Zealand in 2001. The car remained under the care of two prior owners until the selling dealers’ purchase in 2025 and now has 12k kilometers (~7k miles). Finished in Scotia White over two-tone black cloth and red upholstery, it is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four linked with a five-speed manual transaxle and an all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a rear wing, Brembo brakes, white-finished 17″ Enkei wheels, Recaro front seats, a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, and air conditioning. This Evo VI RS is offered in New Zealand by the selling dealer with New Zealand registration.
The Tommi Mäkinen Edition RS was built to commemorate the Finnish rally driver and his four consecutive World Rally Championship victories. TME-specific bodywork includes an aluminum vented bonnet, front over-fenders, rear fender flares, a revised front bumper and air dam, a rear fog lamp, and adjustable wing. This example is finished in Scotia White (W83).
White-finished 17″ Enkei wheels are mounted with Dunlop Direzza tires. Tommi Mäkinen Edition examples were equipped with a specially-tuned suspension featuring aluminum control arms and anti-roll bars front and rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel vented discs with Brembo front calipers.
The right-hand-drive cabin features Recaro front bucket seats that have T. Mäkinen Edition backrest logos and are upholstered in black cloth and red leather, which extends to the rear bench. RS models were factory built without amenities such as power windows, sound deadening, or a stereo system as a means of weight reduction, and this example is equipped with air conditioning.
The leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel frames a 180 or 300-km/h speedometer, a 9k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 12k kilometers (~7k miles).
The turbocharged 2.0-liter 4G63 inline-four features a larger capacity front-mounted intercooler, a titanium 68mm-diameter turbo compressor wheel, and redesigned pistons with improved oil flow compared to the standard Evo VI.
Power is routed to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and an all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip differential.
