MANILA, Philippines — Over 200 devotees have been sidelined from the Traslacion or procession of the image of the Black Nazarene in Manila on Friday due to injuries or other health concerns, the Philippine Red Cross said on Friday.
In an update to reporters, the Red Cross said that 140 individuals were being monitored for vital signs, 93 for dizziness, minor wounds, abrasion, and sprain, while nine others suffered from deep lacerations, headache, and punctures.
Five have been transported to hospitals, with three to the Philippine General Hospital, one to East Avenue and one in Tondo Medical.
Around 1,200 staff and volunteers have been deployed during the Traslacion.
According to the Manila City Government, over 210,000 people gathered around the streets of the capital for the Black Nazarene festivities.
