This 1957 Ford Thunderbird left the factory with Raven Black paintwork, pleated Raven Black and Colonial White vinyl upholstery, and a 312ci V8 equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and linked to a Ford-O-Matic transmission. At some point it was converted to a manual transmission and a Hurst shifter was installed, and it was also repainted light pink and has a reupholstered seat. The car is believed to have remained stored in a barn since around 1995, and it was inherited by the seller’s step sister recently. The seller describes the car as a non-running project that will require both mechanical recommissioning and cosmetic work. This Thunderbird is now offered at no reserve by the seller on behalf of his family with a car cover and a clean Colorado title.
The car left the factory in Raven Black with a matching hardtop (AA), and both have been painted light pink. The right window is cracked, and flaws in the paintwork are depicted in the gallery.
The car rides on 14″ Torq Thrust-style wheels with a mix of cracked tires that require replacement. The braking system will also require service.
The interior has been redone with black-and-burgundy side panels, and the bench seat was reupholstered with a black cover accented by white piping. A Town and Country radio has been retained in the dashboard. Images of modifications to the transmission tunnel to fit the Hurst shifter are depicted in the gallery.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a centrally mounted 140-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates under 98k miles.
The D-code 312ci Y-block V8 is topped with a four-barrel carburetor and was factory rated at 245 horsepower. The air cleaner is missing, and the seller notes that while the engine has been turned over and fires, it will not run on its own.
The three-speed manual transmission has an overdrive, per the seller. Areas of corrosion are noted on the underside and trunk.
The trim tag has been painted over.
