Chevrolet 283ci V8 Engine at No Reserve

This Chevrolet 283ci V8 was removed from a 1962 Bel Air and was rebuilt in 2019 before being acquired by the seller in 2022. It is now offered in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an engine stand.

The engine is finished in Chevy Orange and features Chevrolet-script valve covers. The seller notes that the cast-iron exhaust manifolds and the black air cleaner assembly were sourced separately and installed under current ownership. The engine is mounted on a rolling stand that has been powder-coated black.

The cast-iron intake manifold has casting number 3746826 and is mounted with a Rochester two-barrel carburetor. The engine is also fitted with a PerTronix Flame-Thrower electronic distributor.

The engine pad is stamped F1221D, indicating a 283ci V8 rated at 170 horsepower for use with a Powerglide automatic transmission produced at the Flint, Michigan, plant on December 21. Photos of the other casting numbers and markings can be found in the gallery.
