This single-sided reproduction sign displays the Big Boy figure illuminated by red, yellow, orange, green, and blue neon tubes. The sign measures approximately 54″ tall by 36″ wide, is wired for 120-volt circuitry, and has mounting provisions. Acquired by the seller in 2025, this sign is now offered at no reserve in Taunton, Massachusetts.
The Big Boy restaurant chain was founded in 1936 in Glendale, California, by Bob Wian, and was first called Bob’s Pantry. The Big Boy mascot seen here is a boy with a pompadour hairstyle wearing red-and-white checkered overalls, holding high a Big Boy double-decker cheeseburger.
Red, yellow, orange, green, and blue neon fixtures powered by 120-volt wiring accent the character. The piece measures approximately 54″ tall by 36″ wide and 8″ deep, and the sign and wooden crate weigh about 50 pounds.
The sign has a black-finished metal enclosure with removable pre-drilled mounting tabs, as well as pre-drilled holes in the back of the sign for hanging.
Power comes from two power cords with inline switches and US-style wall plugs.
