77-Years-Family-Owned 1928 Ford Model A Roadster

This 1928 Ford Model A roadster was purchased in 1949 by the current owner’s father, who began readying the car for a refurbishment in the 1980s. The work was completed in 2013, and the car was inherited by the seller in 2024. Power is provided by a 201ci L-head inline-four paired with a three-speed manual transmission, and the car is finished in green with a black soft top and fenders over brown vinyl. Equipment includes red-painted 16″ wire wheels, a rear-mounted spare, and a rumble seat. This Model A was listed on BaT in May 2025 and is now offered again by the seller on behalf of the current owner with a clean New Jersey title in the owner’s name.

The bodywork has been refinished in green with black fenders and running boards, and the car is equipped with a replacement black soft top. Wear is visible on the bumpers.

The 16″ wire wheels were refinished in red as part of the 2013 refurbishment performed by Hullco Layton Garage in Layton, New Jersey. They are mounted with Lester tires measuring 6.00-16. A matching spare is mounted out back. Braking is provided by four-wheel drums.

The bench seat is upholstered in brown vinyl that was sourced from LeBaron Bonney in 1983, and the rumble seat is trimmed to match. The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of a speedometer, an ammeter, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

The 201ci L-head inline-four is fitted with a replacement Zenith carburetor and was factory rated at 40 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque.

Engine number A4762116 corresponds to a unit built in July 1931. The car is titled in New Jersey under number 50207, which can be viewed on a reproduction serial number tag in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a sliding-gear three-speed manual transmission.
