LCCN spiritual leader Archbishop Filibus elected TEKAN President

A major Christian denomination with its headquarters in Adamawa State, the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN), has announced the election of its spiritual leader, Archbishop Musa Filibus, as the new President of Tarayyar Ekklesiyoyin Kristi a Nigeria (TEKAN).

TEKAN is a body of church groups based in northern Nigeria.

The Communications Department of the LCCN headquarters in Numan, Adamawa State, said in a statement that the archbishop’s election took place on January 10, 2026, during the 70th General Assembly of TEKAN.

The LCCN Communications Officer, Rev. Seth Atiko, urging members, partners, and the faithful to offer prayers for divine wisdom and strength for Archbishop Filibus as he assumes his new role, added, “We invite you to stand in solidarity with his vision for a united and vibrant Church in Nigeria.”

DAILY POST reports that Archbishop Musa Filibus, who was born in 1960, was until recently President of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF).

He was the 13th president of the global body and the second African to hold the position.

Archbishop Filibus has served as President of Nigeria’s LCCN since 2017 and continues in that role to date.
