Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso, has shared his thoughts on the team’s 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the final of this year’s Spanish Super Cup on Sunday.
Alonso has claimed it was the “least important” Los Blancos would be involved in this season.
The former midfielder also cited their ongoing injury crisis and bad luck as the reasons they lost.
“It’s the least important of the competitions we play.
“There are mixed emotions, on the one hand the disappointment of not being able to win the title, but also the pride that the team gave their all. We competed until the very end. The final was very close, with different phases.”
Alonso will now prepare his players for their next game – a Copa del Rey Round of 16 tie at Albacete.
