This 1978 International Harvester Scout II is said to have been acquired from its original owner by the seller in 2020 and subsequently underwent a multi-year refurbishment. Work included retrofitting a Terra-style top, repainting the body in blue, retrimming the interior in brown vinyl, overhauling the 304ci V8, and installing a suspension lift kit along with a TransGo shift kit for the three-speed automatic transmission. The truck rides on 15″ steel wheels and is further equipped with a dual-range transfer case, manually locking front hubs, power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, a sliding rear window, Bushwacker fenders, and a bench seat. This Scout II is now offered with refurbishment documents and a clean Arizona title in the seller’s name.

The body was fitted with a white-finished Terra-style top and Bushwacker fender flares, the front body mount wedges were replaced, the lower quarter panels were repaired, and the truck was painted blue as part of the aforementioned refurbishment. Details include a rubberized bed mat, a sliding rear window, Wagner headlights, a chrome-finished front bumper, and a steel rear bumper with a tow ball.

Steel 15″ wheels with chrome accents rings are wrapped in 31×10.5″ Milestar Patagonia M/T tires. The truck rides on a lifted suspension with KYB shocks and is equipped with power steering and manually locking front hubs. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the wheel cylinders have been replaced.

The cab houses a bench seat that was retrimmed in brown vinyl, which extends to the dash pad. Dynamat sound-deadening material is said to have been installed under the replacement carpets, and the dashboard, glove compartment, door panels, floor shifter cover, and steering column have been repainted. The radio does not work.

The three-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal-sweep 120-mph speedometer and gauges for temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. The horn does not work. The replacement five-digit odometer shows 48k miles, approximately 9k of which have been added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 304ci V8 was overhauled by Bailey’s Machine & Engine Parts of Mesa, Arizona, in 2022. The Holley carburetor and oil pump were rebuilt, the cylinders were machined, a Mallory distributor was installed along with Melling pushrods, lifters, and valve springs and seals, and the following components were replaced:
- Pistons and rings
- camshaft bearings
- Main & connecting rod bearings
- Intake & exhaust valves
- Oil pressure switch
- Spark plugs
- Seals & gaskets
The seller notes that the electric choke does not work.

Power is routed to the rear or all four wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission and a Dana 20 two-speed transfer case. A TransGo TF-1 shift kit and a 2.5″ exhaust with a factory-style muffler have been fitted, and additional work included applying Raptor Liner bedliner material to the underside, replacing the U-bolts, and changing the fluids.
