This 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL was sold on BaT in April 2025 and received approximately $50k of service before it was acquired by the selling dealer later that same year. Work involved overhauling the steering, suspension, and brakes in addition to refreshing the fuel system, rebuilding the rear axle shafts, and replacing various components as described below. The car is powered by a 5.5-liter V8 linked with a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential and is finished in Light Ivory over Palomino leather. It rides on 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels and is further equipped with a body-color removable hardtop, a Dark Brown soft top, fog lights, electric windows, air conditioning, and a Becker cassette stereo. This R107 is now offered at no reserve in South Carolina with a data plate, manufacturer’s literature, a 2025 maintenance log, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title.
The car is finished in Light Ivory (623) and features a color-matched removable hardtop and a dark brown convertible soft top. Additional details include quad headlights, fog lights, a power antenna, and chrome-accented bumpers and trim.
Silver-finished 15″ Gullideckel alloy wheels were mounted with 205/65 Pirelli Persist tires in April 2025. The car was factory equipped with power steering, a fully independent suspension, and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes. Records indicate that the steering and suspension were overhauled in June 2025 with a rebuilt steering gearbox in addition to a replacement knuckle, steering damper, idler arm, tie rod assemblies, shocks, control arms, sway bar end links, and subframe bushings. The brake system was also bled and its components replaced at this time.
The bucket seats are trimmed in Palomino leather that extends to the center console and door panels. Appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, central locking, electric windows, and a Becker AM/FM/cassette stereo. The shifter bushings and carpeting were replaced in 2025. The dash is cracked.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation including a 170-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a clock, and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel economy, and fuel level. The six-digit odometer shows 130k miles.
The 5.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 227 horsepower and 279 lb-ft of torque, and sends power to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential.
The maintenance log continues further in the gallery and details work completed in April-June 2025, with a total of over $50k. The fuel system was cleaned, the fluids were changed, and the following components were replaced:
- A/C compressor, receiver drier, pressure switch, and temperature sensor
- Coolant system reservoir
- Change-over valve
- Engine and transmission mounts
- Drive belts
- Fuel accumulator, filter, lines, and pumps
- Valve cover gaskets
The rear axle shafts were also rebuilt, and additional photos of the undercarriage are provided below.
The Carfax report is free of accidents or other reported damage from its initial entry in September 1990.
