1997 Volvo 850R Sedan at No Reserve

This 1997 Volvo 850R sedan was registered with one owner in Georgia for more than 25 years. Finished in bright red over a dark gray interior with leather and microfiber upholstery, the vehicle was acquired by the seller in 2024, and subsequent work has included overhauling its turbocharged 2.3L inline-five, refreshing its suspension, and installing R-Design front seats from a 2019 XC60. The car is equipped with a four-speed automatic transaxle, a 3″ exhaust system, 17″ Volans wheels, aftermarket gauges, automatic climate control, a head unit with a pop-out display, and a Kicker subwoofer. This 850R is offered at no reserve with an accident-free Carfax report and a clean Kentucky title in the seller’s name.

Exterior details include an R-specification front valance, removed headlamp wipers, front mudguards, a sunroof, a rear spoiler, and a single exhaust finisher. Some dents and areas of oxidized finish are noted by the seller, and close-up photos of flaws around the body are pictured in close-up photos shown in the gallery below.

The car rides on a MacPherson-strut independent front suspension paired with a Delta-Link semi-independent rear setup. H&R lowering springs and replacement dampers, stabilizer bars, control arms, and tie rods were installed under current ownership, per the seller. The 17″ Volans wheels are mounted with 205/45 Acelera PHI R tires.

The gray interior has power-adjustable front seats from a 2019 XC60 R-Design, a replacement headliner, carbon-look trim, automatic climate control, and a head unit with USB ports and a pop-out display. A Kicker subwoofer is housed in the trunk. The seller notes some rattling from under the dashboard.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a gauge cluster with red LED backlighting. A digital gauge for air-fuel ratio is mounted on the left A-pillar, and an aftermarket boost gauge is installed in a climate-control vent on the left side. The six-digit odometer shows 59k miles, however it is not working, and a mileage inconsistency is listed in a November 2025 entry on the Carfax report. Total mileage is unknown. The seller reports driving ~8k miles since acquiring the car.

The transverse-mounted turbocharged 2.3-liter inline-five was overhauled under current ownership, and it has engine-management programming by VAST Tuning for both 93 octane / 16 psi max boost and E85 / 23 psi max boost. The seller reports the following components:

  • 50trim hybrid turbo
  • Forged connecting rods, replacement pistons & bearings
  • BMW 3.5″ mass air-flow sensor
  • 1,000cc FIC fuel injectors
  • AEM 340LPH fuel pump
  • Replacement fuel lines and engine mounts
  • 3″ exhaust system

Power is routed to the front wheels through a four-speed automatic transaxle. The seller adds that the axle shafts were replaced under current ownership, as well.

The Carfax report shows the aforementioned mileage inconsistency. It is free of accidents or other reported damage.
