If you own a Pixel smartphone, then you might want to check your device for the latest software update from Google, which finally brings the January 2026 security patch for several devices, along with fixes for known bugs and performance issues.
That in mind, Google says that the January 2026 update addresses several issues such as noisy ringback tones during Webex calls, battery drain issues, and display-related bugs like Always-On Display (AOD) flickering and graphical noise when editing HDR photos in Adobe Lightroom. The update also corrects an interface glitch that causes the “Wallpaper and style” app to crash when deleting Live Universe wallpapers.
It should be noted however that the update is not available for a number of Pixel devices, such as older models from five years ago. This includes the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro. It is available for the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, and the first-generation Pixel Fold though, in addition to the Pixel 8, 9, and 10 series.
Users can check for the security patch by heading into Settings > System > Software Updates > System Update to prompt their phone to scan for the latest software patch.
