If you’ve been using the same crusty webcam since 2020, Insta360 thinks it’s time for an upgrade. The company announced the Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro today, two new webcams that are trying to close the gap between basic webcams and actual camera setups.
The big deal here is the 1/1.3-inch sensor, which is significantly larger than what you’ll find in most webcams. Insta360 is also using dual Native ISO, so the camera should handle low-light situations better and adjust more naturally when your lighting changes. There’s also an upgraded audio setup with beamforming and AI noise canceling that’s supposed to keep your voice clear even when there’s background noise.
Two Models for Different Needs
Insta360 is splitting this launch into two versions. The Link 2 Pro runs $249.99 and comes with a 2-axis gimbal that lets the camera physically track you around. If you’re teaching online classes or doing fitness videos where you’re moving around a lot, that’s probably the one you want. The Link 2C Pro is cheaper at $199.99 but ditches the gimbal for a fixed design. It’s better suited for desk setups where you’re not moving much, like regular conference calls or streaming.
Both models shoot 4K and include a Natural Bokeh mode that mimics the blurred background effect you’d get from a DSLR. The autofocus system got an upgrade too, now using Phase Detection instead of the slower contrast-based systems you find in cheaper webcams. Insta360 also added Elgato Stream Deck integration, so if you’re already using one of those, you can control the webcam’s settings with physical buttons instead of digging through menus.
AI Features That Actually Make Sense
The new webcams support Smart Whiteboard Mode for teachers, DeskView Mode for overhead desk shots, and improved gesture controls for hands-free operation. Scene Presets let you save your preferred camera angles and settings, then switch between them instantly during meetings or streams. The Link 2 Pro also works alongside Insta360 Wave to create a unified audio-video system that keeps the current speaker framed on camera as conversations shift naturally.
Both models support Portrait Mode for vertical 4K video, which is great for Instagram or TikTok content. They also include Insta360 InSight, an AI meeting assistant that records meetings, generates transcripts, and creates AI-powered summaries for faster post-meeting review.
