CITIZENS can now directly report to the government any potential unfair business practice that undermines public welfare, the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) announced on Monday.
The PCC is an independent, quasi-judicial government body that enforces the Philippine Competition Act (PCA) to promote fair market competition, protect consumer welfare, and foster economic efficiency by prohibiting anti-competitive practices like cartels, abuse of dominance, and anti-competitive mergers and acquisitions.
It reviews large deals, investigates violations, and can impose penalties to ensure a level playing field for businesses and better choices for consumers.
The new case reporting system allows users to quickly upload documents for complaints and submit these online. It replaces the previous procedure that required multiple steps and staff interventions.
On April 24, 2025, the PCC enhanced its case processing capabilities with a new case management system donated by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (Koica).
It streamlined the process of reporting, which currently requires users to email requests for SharePoint access, wait for PCC staff to create dedicated folders, and receive login details.
“This new [case reporting] system [is a] leap forward, making it easier for the public to contribute to a competitive marketplace,“ PCC Chairman Michael Aguinaldo said in a previous statement.
