Choosing between Intel and AMD just got harder. ASUS unveiled its Zenbook S14 and S16 laptops with next-generation AI processors that promise serious performance in seriously thin packages. The ASUS Zenbook S14 packs Intel’s Core Ultra 9 386H processor, while the Zenbook S16 runs on AMD’s Ryzen AI chips. Both models deliver up to 50 TOPS of NPU power for AI tasks.
These aren’t your typical ultrabooks. The Zenbook S14 measures just 1.1cm thick and weighs 1.2kg, while the slightly larger S16 comes in at 1.1cm thick and 1.5kg. ASUS achieved this slim profile using what it calls Ceraluminum, a ceramic-aluminum hybrid material that’s light, durable, and gives the laptops a unique finish. Both models feature precision vents with a geometric grille design that helps with quiet ambient cooling.
Premium displays and connectivity
Display options include either a 14-inch or 16-inch 3K OLED touchscreen with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR support. The OLED panels hit up to 1,100 nits of peak brightness, making them usable in bright environments. ASUS included Dolby Atmos speakers (four on the S14, six on the S16) for enhanced audio.
For security, both laptops come with Windows Passkey support, Microsoft Pluton, and an IR webcam for facial recognition. The Zenbook S14 includes a 77Wh battery while the S16 packs an 83Wh cell.
ASUS equipped both models with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and multiple ports for connectivity. Storage comes as a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD paired with 32GB LPDDR5X RAM. The touchpads feature smart gesture controls, and both laptops come pre-loaded with Copilot+PC features for AI-powered productivity tasks.
ASUS hasn’t announced pricing or availability yet for the Zenbook S14 and S16, but expect them to compete with other premium ultrabooks when they hit the market.
